This course is designed to introduce charity treasurers to the concepts of simple Receipts and Payments accounting and the bookkeeping methods necessary to use this form of accounts. This course will cover:
Legal accounting requirements for charities, Introduction to Receipts and Payments accounts, How to compile a simple cashbook, Additional requirements for internal reporting.

Gift Aid: Maximising the benefits and reducing the pitfalls

Gift Aid provides a significant additional source of funding for most churches, but there are real dangers if churches try to stretch the benefits too far. This course will look at Gift Aid in detail and examine all the requirements that it imposes as well as identifying ways in which churches can maximise their use of it. The course will cover aspects such as: Legal requirements; Paperwork; Audit trail; Is it a gift?; Donor benefit; Making a claim; and The Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme (GASDS).

Accruals Accounting: Accounts for Larger Churches (Session 2)

This is a two session course for churches that are required, or voluntarily opt, to prepare their annual accounts according to the accruals basis.
Session two is entitled "Accruals and the Charity SORP". It will discuss how to make year-end accounting adjustments, the reporting requirements of the Charities SORP and the requirements for larger charities.

It also aims to provide an introduction to the fundamental accounting concepts and form of financial statements that are used in accruals basis accounting.

Accruals Accounting: Accounts for Larger Churches (Session 1)

This is a two session course for churches that are required, or voluntarily opt, to prepare their annual accounts according to the accruals basis.
Session one is entitled "Introduction to Accruals" and aims to provide an introduction to the fundamental accounting concepts and forms of financial statements that are used in accruals basis accounting.
